Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cook the orzo in salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente, about 9-11 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Season chicken breasts with onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook in a skillet over medium heat with olive oil for 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked. Dice and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter with olive oil. Sauté onions, carrots, and celery for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  4. Lower heat and add flour to the vegetables. Whisk for 2-3 minutes to form a roux.
  5. Gradually whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream, cooking until sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Add chicken back into the sauce, simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, then stir in cooked orzo.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
