  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry store-bought for ease
For the Filling
  • 2 cups Apples Granny Smith, Fuji, or Honeycrisp
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar consider cinnamon sugar for flavor
For the Finish
  • 1 large Egg for egg wash

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 415°F (210°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and slice the apples into 8-10 thin pieces. Sprinkle with sugar and set aside.
  3. Roll out the chilled puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into eight 4x4 inch squares.
  4. Place 4-5 apple slices on each pastry square and sprinkle a little sugar on top.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling and press the edges to seal. Optionally, crimp with a fork.
  6. Whisk the egg and brush it over the tops of the turnovers. Add more sugar if desired.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack, then serve warm.

Notes
