For the Skillet
  • 1 lb Ground Beef lean beef is a healthier option
  • 1 cup Long-Grain White Rice uncooked
  • 2 cups Beef Broth vegetable broth can be used
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil can substitute with vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder or use fresh onions
  • 1 tbsp Cajun Seasoning homemade mix works too
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese shredded, use milder cheese if desired
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese grated, substitute with any hard cheese
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil, and cook ground beef for 6-8 minutes until browned. Season with salt and pepper and drain excess fat.
  2. Push the beef to one side and add minced garlic to the other side, sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Sprinkle onion powder and Cajun seasoning over beef and garlic, stir to combine and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add uncooked rice and beef broth, stir well, and bring to a gentle boil.
  5. Once boiling, reduce heat to simmer, cover, and cook for 18-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat, add Parmesan and Cheddar cheese, and stir until melted and creamy.
  7. Adjust seasoning if needed and serve warm, garnished with extra cheese or parsley if desired.
