- In a large jug, combine the milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, brown sugar, and treacle. Whisk until well-blended.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Mix well and gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, divide into two logs (10-12 inches long), and place them on the baking tray.

- Slice the logs into 1-inch thick pieces while warm, and arrange them cut-side down on the tray.
