Dough Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of bread flour, 1 packet of instant dry yeast, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Gradually pour in 1 cup of warm water (105-115°F) and 2 tablespoons of olive oil, mixing until dough comes together.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 to 1.5 hours.
Sauce Preparation
- Heat a pan over medium heat, add 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add a can of crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, and optional red pepper flakes. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
Hot Honey Preparation
- In a small saucepan, combine ½ cup of honey, 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, 1 tablespoon of chili oil, and 1 teaspoon of vinegar. Heat over low, stirring until aromatic, about 5 minutes.
Baking Process
- Preheat the oven to 500°F with a pizza stone for at least 30 minutes.
- Once the dough has risen, punch down and roll it out into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Spread sauce over the base, followed by mozzarella, provolone, and generous pepperoni.
- Bake for 8 to 12 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
- Drizzle with hot honey and add basil before serving.
