  • 1 package Puff Pastry use store-bought for convenience

  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 4 cups Fresh Spinach or frozen spinach, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg optional
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese freshly grated preferred
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese or other melting cheeses
For the Egg Wash
  • 1 large Egg or non-dairy milk for vegan option
  • 1 tablespoon Milk or Cream or non-dairy versions
For Garnish (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame or Poppy Seeds optional

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Melt butter or olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Then add spinach, stirring until wilted, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, if using, and cool slightly.
  2. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Roll out chilled puff pastry into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread cooled spinach filling evenly, leaving about an inch on the edges, and sprinkle with Parmesan and mozzarella.
  4. Slice the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide, twist each strip gently from both ends, and place on the baking sheet.
  5. Whisk together egg and a splash of milk for the egg wash, then brush it over the tops of the twists. Optionally, sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top.
  6. Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
