For the Chicken
  • 1 pound boneless chicken thighs can substitute with chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk plain yogurt mixed with water works as a substitute
For the Coating
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour gluten-free alternatives available
  • 1 teaspoon paprika smoked paprika can be used
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust for heat preference
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder fresh garlic can be used
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder fresh onions can be used
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
For Frying
  • 1 cup vegetable oil can substitute with canola or peanut oil
For the Honey Butter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter salted butter can also be used
  • 1/4 cup honey agave syrup is a vegan alternative
For Assembly
  • 6 pieces slider buns brioche can be used for sweetness
  • 1 cup pickles bread and butter or dill work great
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapeños optional

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a medium bowl, marinate chicken thighs in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, up to overnight.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Dredge marinated chicken in the flour mixture and fry for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat, stir in honey and cayenne pepper.
  6. Spread honey butter on sliced slider buns, add fried chicken, pickles, and jalapeños.
  7. Serve warm with remaining honey butter on the side.
