Preparation Steps
- In a large skillet, heat a splash of oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned and cooked through.
- If there's excess fat, drain it from the skillet, then add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 2 minutes, until fragrant and golden.
- Pour in the soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil, stirring well. Allow the mixture to simmer on medium heat for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
- If using, toss in the broccoli florets. Stir and cook for another 3–4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
- Prepare the rice according to package instructions if not pre-cooked.
- Arrange the cooked rice in serving bowls. Spoon the beef mixture generously over the rice.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
