Method

Making the Dip
  1. Begin by thoroughly rinsing 2 cups of fresh cranberries, then chop them coarsely for texture.
  2. Next, thinly slice 2 green onions, using only the green tops if you prefer a milder flavor.
  3. Finely dice 1-2 jalapeños, adjusting the quantity based on your spice tolerance.
  4. If desired, chop a handful of cilantro.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped cranberries, green onions, jalapeños, cilantro (if using), and about 3/4 to 1 cup of sugar to balance the tartness.
  6. Add the juice of one fresh lemon along with a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.
  7. Gently stir the mixture until all ingredients are well combined.
  8. Cover the cranberry mixture tightly with plastic wrap or a lid, ensuring it's sealed to retain moisture.
  9. Allow this vibrant concoction to chill in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours, but overnight is ideal.
  10. Before serving, strain off any excess liquid using a colander, pressing down gently.
  11. In a medium bowl, whip 8 ounces of cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  12. Spread the whipped cream cheese evenly across the bottom of your serving plate or dish.
  13. Spoon the chilled cranberry mixture over the whipped cream cheese layer, spreading it evenly to make a beautiful presentation.
  14. Serve your Holiday Cranberry Jalapeño Cream Cheese Dip chilled, accompanied by a platter of crackers, tortilla chips, or toasted bread.
