Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of warm milk, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 1 packet of instant yeast. Allow to sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, then create a well in the center. Pour in the yeast mixture, along with 1/4 cup melted butter and 2 eggs to form a soft dough.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. Prepare the cherry filling by mixing 1 cup of cherries, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon in a medium bowl.
  6. Once the dough has risen, roll it into a rectangle, spread 2 tablespoons of softened butter over it, sprinkle with cherry filling, and roll tightly.
  7. Slice the log into 12 pieces and arrange in a greased baking pan. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, make the frosting by beating together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  10. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before drizzling cream cheese frosting over them.
