Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of warm milk, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 1 packet of instant yeast. Allow to sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- In another bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, then create a well in the center. Pour in the yeast mixture, along with 1/4 cup melted butter and 2 eggs to form a soft dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Prepare the cherry filling by mixing 1 cup of cherries, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon in a medium bowl.
- Once the dough has risen, roll it into a rectangle, spread 2 tablespoons of softened butter over it, sprinkle with cherry filling, and roll tightly.
- Slice the log into 12 pieces and arrange in a greased baking pan. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, make the frosting by beating together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly before drizzling cream cheese frosting over them.
