Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by creating a Bain-Marie. In a small pot, bring ½ cup of water to a gentle boil over medium heat. Place a large heatproof bowl over the pot, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water.
- Add 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter and 4 cups of regular marshmallows into the heatproof bowl. Stir continuously for about 2-4 minutes, or until smooth and glossy.
- Once melted, carefully remove the bowl from the heat. Stir in ½ teaspoon of salt and a few drops of red food coloring, mixing well until it achieves a vibrant hue.
- Pour the warm marshmallow mixture over 6 cups of Rice Bubbles. Quickly fold together until each Rice Bubble is well-coated.
- With greased hands, take handfuls of the mixture and shape them into oval ‘brains.’ Create a dent in the center of each brain.
- Once shaped, dip a toothpick into additional red food coloring and carefully draw lines on the surface of each brain.
- Allow the shaped treats to cool completely at room temperature. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Notes
Work quickly while shaping as the mixture will set fast. Lightly oil hands to prevent sticking.
